The United States Army Warrant Officers Association - Southern California Chapter was established in 1993. A group of warrant officers met on a Saturday morning at the Garden Grove Reserve Center in Garden Grove, California to discuss the formation of the new chapter. Among those attending the initial meeting were CW2 Lynda Thompson, CW3 Rebecca Issac, CW3 Mary Carter, and CW2 Farrell Chiles. The group decided to move forward and sent letters to all at-large members in the area for another meeting. That meeting was held at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario, CA and attracted approximately 15 warrant officers. Attendees agreed to start the chapter and submitted an application to the National Office. CW3 Mary Carter was elected interim President.
At the Annual Meeting of the Members (AMM) on October 17, 1993, the Chapter was presented its charter by then president CW4 Tom Piatti.
The chapter has received several Certificates of Recognition from area Congressmen, Proclamations from the City of Los Alamitos for its "Warrant Officers Appreciation Day" Activities, Certificates of Appreciation from the Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce, and others.
At the national level, the chapter was awarded Best Retention Award (1996); Overall Best Chapter for Recruiting and Retention (1996); and Best Recruiting and Retention (2002).
